“Marvin” winery was established in 2005 on the territory of Hadzhi Dimitrovo, a village in the municipality of Yambol, situated 20 km away from Sliven in the “Valley of the Thracian Rulers”. Recent archaeological finds in the area are presenting more and more artifacts, illustrating the lives and livelihoods of ancient Thracians, who inhabited these lands. Many ancient poets have hanted the qualities of Thracian wines that were invariably present on the tables of rulers for generations. The location of the winery and vineyards, in a region with a rich historical heritage, benefits the development of cultural, historical and wine tourism. The philosophy of producing limited batches of wine, made with care and precision for connoisseurs and with a higher price range, is dictated by the longtime experience of the team that established the winery.
The winery produces red wines from the varieties Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, as well as rose from Cabernet-Sauvignon. The white varieties include Aligote, Muscat Ottonel, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc. All red wines are aged in 225 l. high-quality French oak barrels. The equipment is new and highly efficient and modern technology is used to produce high quality wines. “Marvin” is a boutique winery and produces no more than 8-10 thousand bottles of each type per year. The main brands of the company are Merendera, DeFacto, Marvin’s and Roseline. Wines from the “Marvin’s” and “Roseline” series entered the market in December 2007, with “Merendera” and “DeFacto” following in 2013. Our wines enjoy good reception and demand, both in local retailers and restaurants of Sliven and Yambol, as well as the mountain resorts, the Black Sea coast and the capital. All wines are made from hand-harvested, carefully selected, fully ripe grapes from our own vineyards, located 200 meters away from the cellar. In the production of our wines, we use the most advanced technology, combined with the best traditions of Bulgarian winemaking and the experience and professionalism of our team. In order to produce even higher quality products and increase the capacity of the winery, a major investment was made in 2013 and includes new advanced fermenters of white and red wines, increased vascular capacity for processing and resting the wine in barrels, as well as new modern automatic bottling line.
The vineyards are in an ecologically clean area, where heavy industry and other pollutants are lacking. Most of the vineyards are 11 years old, with the remainder 7 years old. All 900 acres of vineyards are planted with quality planting material, imported from France. The varieties are: Cabernet Sauvignon (three different branches/variants), Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Muscat Ottonel, Aligoté, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc. Since mid-2007, the company has implemented HACCP system / Hazard analysis Critical Control Points / – Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point principles.
The location of the vineyards and the wine cellar is very attractive. It is only 500 meters away from “Trakia” motorway (which connects the capital Sofia to the east coastal point – Bourgas) and only an hour away from checkpoint “Lessovo” (the Bulgarian-Turkish border). The next stage of development of the winery is the establishment of a luxury complex including a shop, restaurant and wine tasting room to promote our products and benefit wine tourism in general.
